On offer are some chilling poems and a series of stories about Friday, a black cat with a penchant for curious events.
Friday’s stories will be available to read for free until November 3rd.
Van Leerdam is also the author of The Silver Feather, a haunting, macabre tale which was featured here as a new release earlier this month. It’s on sale until November 1st for 99c in your favourite digital store. and is also available as a paperback via Amazon.
LILY LUCHESI and fifteen other authors have just released Damsels of Distress, an anthology featuring strong female leads that should never be underestimated.
It’s on sale right now for just 99c, and is incredibly good value.
PETER BLAKEY-NOVIS has been sharing 31 Days of Horror on his blog at Embrace The Darkness. He has featured a number of excellent novels, novellas, and blogs in his listing.
So, plenty of spooky and horrific treats for Halloween. Who needs candy? Go nuts!
A deliciously creepy story, ‘The Celtic Curse: Banshee” tells the story of the origins and then the conclusion of one family’s experience of a banshee’s curse.
Perfect for lovers of the Gothic and the macabre, this tale is permeated by plenty of classic horror, superstition and dark supernatural power, which are in part balanced by the normality of the central characters who unwittingly fall under the curse.
I found this novelette to be perfect reading for a stormy late September afternoon, given that both Friday 13th and Halloween are approaching.
The Celtic Curse: Banshee is available via Amazon for kindle or in paperback.
This paranormal mystery is so bewitching,I found it hard to put down.
‘Blessedly Bound’ is so bewitching,I found it hard to put down.
The central character, Gwen, is an enigma of strength and vulnerability combined, which makes her easy to empathise with: surely, when we are being honest, that is how we perceive ourselves?
The reader is also tantalised by the fact that the reader doesn’t ever really know who the good guys are – the candidates for Gwen’s “hero” are compelling blends of good and bad, so that one is never really sure which way each of them will turn out.
While the pivotal storyline of the book is brought to a satisfying resolution, there is still plenty of mystery and intrigue left for sequels as questions, doubts, and fears remain.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I’ll definitely be reading the sequel.
I’ve given this great paranormal mystery read five stars.
Blessedly Bound and other books by the same author are available on Amazon.
Highs, lows, plot twists, and every emotion conceivable… this is your fate if you pick up this book. And if you do… you won’t be sorry.
You will love the characters, you will love the story, you will scream and cry and try to slam on the brakes as you ride the rollercoaster of this plot. And you’ll read, and read, and read, until it’s done. And then you’ll have no words either.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go and curl up in the corner and rock until the sequel is delivered.
‘Souls Discovered is available as a paperback or eBook from Amazon.
Brilliant work, Ms DalRae. I already want the sequel.
If you love a riveting read, and you’re not averse to a little paranormal romance, this book has it all: jealousy, love, rage, angst, mystery and intrigue, and some breathtakingly hot moments without being gratuitous or needlessly graphic.
The plot is as intriguing as it is complex, although as one is reading, it does seem straightforward. Such is DalRae’s genius at weaving plot, sub-plot and backstory seamlessly together.
The characters are believable and engaging, yet at the same time vivid and unique.
And that “penny drop” moment at the end? Nothing prepared me for that.
Brilliant work, Ms DalRae. I already want the sequel.
‘Death Comes Calling’ by F.B Hogan. 5 stars! #books #horror #reading #supernatural #death #
This collection is really great! I was hooked before I finished the first story, and had to keep on reading.
Each one is well-crafted with some delicious twists and turns that are guaranteed to keep the reader enchanted! Hogan’s writing style is very easy to read, and the stories moved at a very comfortable pace.
I really like the way the stories are all individual and able to stand alone on their own merits, yet they form a very effective series that has good cohesion and unity throughout.
This is not just a collection to be enjoyed on Halloween. These stories will entertain anyone with a love of the macabre on any night of the year.
This is a really good story with lots of twists and turns, some of which are absolutely heart-stopping. It’s the story of Izara and her journey of discovery of truth about herself and her twin brother, Kain, as they confront a world they had never dreamed of.
The story has some incredibly dark moments, so I’d recommend it for an audience of 16+ years of age, but it also has strong elements of hope despite the odds.
The characters are relatable and very engaging. As a reader, I didn’t always like Izara or Kain, but that actually made them more believable and intriguing.
The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the number of regular typos in the text, which I found annoying: they didn’t really detract from the story at all, but I am a stickler for those things, and I did find it distracting.
The book ended on a cliffhanger, so it wasn’t satisfying in the sense of getting answers or resolution, but it definitely whets the appetite for the next instalment!
I want more of Tompkin’s Academy!
